Sapphire Women Football Supporters Club to mark fifth anniversary of International Day of Girls Child Celebration

The Sapphire Nigeria Women Football Supporters Club has unveiled plans for its fifth annual International Day of the Girl Child celebration, scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Albati Barracks Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, starting from 7:00 a.m.

This year’s edition, themed “The Girls I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis,” will spotlight the vital role of the girl child in confronting climate change and environmental challenges.

True to the club’s tradition of blending advocacy with sports, the 2025 programme will feature a football competition aimed at engaging and empowering participants.

The milestone celebration will also include other exciting activities designed to inspire girls to embrace leadership roles in their communities.

A press conference is scheduled for Saturday , October 4, 2025, in the buildup to the event to share further details and mobilize support from stakeholders, partners, and the public.

Speaking ahead of the celebration, Jadesola Adelabu, President of the Supporters Club, reaffirmed her commitment to championing the rights, development, and leadership of the girl child through football and advocacy.

“This year marks a special milestone for us, and we remain dedicated to ensuring that the voices of girls are heard and their contributions to addressing global challenges are recognized,” Adelabu said.
