Serie A: Victor Osimhen scores again as Napoli romp Lecce
By Wale Mustapha
Victor Osimhen is responding to his critics with goal as he was on score sheet yet again in Napoli’s dominant 4-0 win at Lecce in the Italian Serie A encounter on Saturday.
The Super Eagles forward is at the center of heavy criticism from Italia media and some section of Napoli fans after missing a stoppage time penalty against Bologna.
Despite ending his four-match goal drought in a 4-1 home win over Udinese on Wednesday, the former Lille striker started from bench in the match against Lecce this weekend.
Norwegian forward, Leo Ostigaard had handed Rudi Garcia an early lead as he scored from Zielinski’s assist.
The visitors held on to the slender lead until half time before Osimhen was introduced at the start of second half.
It took Serie A last season’s top scorer just five minutes to register his name on the scoresheet as he headed home a well measured pass from his striker part Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, with his fifth league goal of the current campaign.
The Partenopei went on cruise control from then on and didn’t look back as they took their guests to cleaners with two more goals from two other substitutes Gianluca Gaetano and Matteo Politano.
The victory has temporarily sent Napoli to third on the log with 14 points from seven games, four behind the top two Milan clubs who are tied on same points (18).
