Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions, Bayelsa Queens, opened their campaign at the 2025 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers with a 2-1 victory over Ghana’s Police Ladies in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire on Sunday.

Shakirat Moshood fired the Prosperity Girls ahead in the 12th minute with a left-footed strike inside the box.

After a tightly contested first half, Moshood turned provider in the 62nd minute, delivering the cross for Emem Essien to double the lead with a composed right-footed finish.

Police Ladies quickly pulled one back through Mary Berko, capitalising on a defensive lapse five minutes later, but Bayelsa Queens held firm to secure the win.

The Nigerian champions will book their place in the semi-finals with victory over ASKO of Togo on August 27.

Police Ladies on the other hand face Aam Nelly of Benin Republic as they look to bounce back.
