Shooting Stars crowned NPFL/Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation Super Cup champions

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has emerged as Champions of the inaugural Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation Super Cup.
The Ibadan based team edged Enyimba International 3-2 in the final match at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
Enyimba took the lead in the sixth minute from Fatai Abdullahi before Shooting Stars equalised in the 13th minute when Taofeek Malomo drew level for the Ibadan side after a good work from Anthony Okachi.
The People’s Elephant regained its lead on the half-hour mark as Eze Ekwutoziam finished off a follow-up after Shooting Stars goalkeeper palmed away Chisom Mbaoma’s initial effort at goal.
The Oluyole Warriors equalised for the second time in the game on the hour mark as Kelly Kester took the ball from the halfway line.
Enyimba players backtracked but the Shooting Stars man picked his spot by curling the ball past John Noble.
With three minutes to the end of the game, Gbenga Ogunbote’s side took the lead for the first time in the game when Anthony Okachi scored to stun the two-time African Champions.
Shooting Stars Anthony Okachi won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament while Enyimba’s Chisom Mbaoma took the highest goal scorer’s prize.
Four teams participated in 2022 The Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation Super Cup in preparation for the 2022/2023 NPFL season; Shooting Stars, Enyimba FC, Bendel Insurance, and Rangers International.
