By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The camp of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team officially opened in Uyo on Monday ahead of this month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Early arrivals at the team’s base in Ikot Ekpene included William Troost-Ekong, Amas Obasogie, Felix Agu, and Raphael Onyedika.

They were later joined by nine more players: Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Moses Simon, Chidozie Awaziem, Adebayo Adeleye, and Benjamin Frederick.

The players have since settled into camp, with three more squad members expected before Tuesday evening’s training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

After training, the team will hold a brief media parley.

The official pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Uganda will take place on Friday.

Three time African champions need maximum points against Uganda and South Africa in their next two games to stand chance of qualifying for the World Cup.

Since 1994, the team has not fail to qualify for consecutive FIFA World Cups.
