Nigeria’s senior women’s national team have wrapped up their final training session in Abeokuta ahead of Tuesday’s decisive second leg of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers against the Amazons of Benin.

The session, held at the MKO Abiola Stadium, was light but purposeful, focusing on tactical adjustments, recovery, and maintaining sharp team coordination.

Players began with dynamic stretching routines to boost flexibility and prevent fatigue before engaging in cone-based agility and short passing drills aimed at improving first touch, movement, and control under pressure.

The technical team also emphasized paired control exercises, including chest and thigh touches, as well as alternating left and right foot control — all performed with impressive precision and intensity.

Training concluded with a steady jog around the pitch, allowing the team to maintain rhythm, focus, and unity ahead of the crucial encounter.

The mood in camp was calm yet determined, with the players exuding confidence and readiness for the 4 PM kickoff on Tuesday in Abeokuta, as they aim to secure qualification for the 2026 WAFCON.

Goals from Chinwendu Ihezuo and Esther Okoronkwo lifted the 10-time African champions to a 2-0 win in the first leg.
