Taiwo Awoniyi: Super Eagles striker helps Nottingham Forest to draw against Chelsea

Nigeria striker Taiwo Awoniyi shone for Nottingham Forest on New Year day as they rallied to secure 1-1 draw against Chelsea at the City Ground.
The former Union Berlin forward was in fine form as he put Chelsea back line on their toes till he was subbed off with 12 minutes before full time.
Raheem Sterling gave Chelsea half time lead in the 16th minute of the game and could have sealed it with more chances that went begging.
However, Steven Cooper talked up his side before second half and it paid off as Ivorian defender Serge Aurier leveled for the home side just three minutes on the hour mark.
The result, however puts Forest on 18th, same points (14) with 17th placed West Ham United after 17 games.
Meanwhile, Awoniyi’s Nigerian compatriot with the Forest, Emmanuel Dennis could not have a taste of the match despite make an appearance after he was named among the substitutes.
25-year-old Awoniyi and Nottingham Forest will be on the road to St Mary’s Stadium for their next fixture against Southampton on Wednesday.
