Time and where Rivers United will face Angolan Academica do Lobito

Rivers United FC will begin its 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) group stage fixtures when they face Academica do Lobito on Sunday.

The Group C matchday one contest is slated for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, as the Pride of Rivers will not be able to play at their natural home ground, the Adokiye Amasiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.

Recall that Rivers United FC reached the last-8 of the 2022/23 season and will hope to surpass that record as Stanley Eguma’s men will be hoping to get off to a winning start against the Angolan side.

Rivers United FC will also face Tunisia’s Club Africain and Ghana’s Dreams FC in Group C, as the top two teams in the group will qualify for the quarter-finals.

The Pride of Rivers are Nigeria’s sole representative in the continental competition this season and must qualify for the quarter-final to preserve Nigeria’s four spots for CAF Club competitions next season.

Meanwhile, their league fixtures against Plateau United FC slated for Saturday, November 25 will be rescheduled, as a result of their continental engagement.
