Todd Boehly aims to make French star his first Chelsea signing following takeover

Soon to be new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is keen to make AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni his first signing following his takeover, the Daily Mirror claim.

Chelsea remain in limbo for now, following the sanction of Roman Abramovich by the UK government amid the conflict in Ukraine, but are unlikely to be in such position for much longer.

In a statement, last week, the Blues confirmed that a deal was expected to go through come the end of the month, meaning that the Stamford Bridge side are likely to be able to take part in the summer transfer window.

‘Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club’, the Blues revealed.

‘Of the total investment being made, £2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich. UK Government approval will be required for the proceeds to be transferred from the frozen UK bank account.’

‘The sale is expected to complete in late May subject to all necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time.’

Tchouameni tops the list

This could be perfect timing for the addition of Tchouameni, who is expected to leave Monaco this summer having caught the eye of Europe’s top suitors this season.

‘Chelsea are set to be free to sign and sell players after the takeover of the club by Todd Boehly’s consortium – and Monaco midfield star Aurelien Tchouameni is at the top of their shopping list’, the Mirror report.

It would prove to be quite the coup if Chelsea can manage to outbid the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid for the youngster’s services.
