KRC Genk striker Tolu Arokodare has distanced himself from swirling transfer rumors, stating that he remains unaware of any concrete developments regarding a potential move — but admits he would welcome the chance to play in the English Premier League.
Speaking to Voetbalkrant after Genk’s 2–1 loss to Standard Liège in the Belgian Pro League, the Nigerian forward was candid when asked about reports linking him with a move away from the club.
“I can’t say anything about it, I don’t know anything about it myself. You hear rumors, I hear rumors, but have you heard anything concrete yet?” Arokodare said.
While the 23-year-old didn’t confirm any ongoing negotiations, he was open about his admiration for England’s top flight.
“Everyone wants to play in the Premier League, including me,” he said. “But in the end, it doesn’t really matter. I just want to play good football and be appreciated, like I was at Genk. I don’t know if I’ll leave this season or next.”
Arokodare didn’t rule out remaining at Genk this season, despite speculation suggesting otherwise.
“Anything can happen in football. It’s very frustrating not knowing what’s going on. I’m trying to stay calm, even though my head is racing. But I have my friends and loved ones who keep me mentally stable,” he added.
The former Golden Eaglets striker joined Genk in January 2023 and has since been a key part of the squad, attracting attention with his physical presence and eye for goal.
