Toni Payne gets WSL Player of the Month nomination

Nigeria forward Toni Payne has been nominated for February English Women’s Super League (WSL) Player of the Month.

The former Sevilla FC star had a fantastic February for the Toffees.

She provided three assists in the team’s two games in the WSL for the month.

The feat made her the second Nigerian player to be nominated after Ashleigh Plumptre who got the nod as Leicester City FC player.

The English-born player had since moved to Saudi Arabia’s Women’s Premier League side, Al Ittihad.

Still, in search of her first-ever goal for the Merseyside club, Payne has been an integral part of the team’s league campaign.

The Super Falcons player will jostle with her teammate, Kelly Gago, and four others.

Elisabeth Terland (Manchester United), Mariona Caldentey (Arsenal FC), Frida-Maanum (Arsenal FC), and Mary Fowler completed the six players nominated for WSL Player of the Month.
