Toni Payne: Nigeria forward bags double assist in Sevilla’s first league win

Nigeria international Toni Payne had two assists as her Spanish Primera Iberdrola side, Sevilla recorded its first league triumph of the 2022/2023 season following a 5-0 victory over Villareal.
Sevilla had lost two of its previous three games heading into Sunday’s league game and playing out a 2-2 draw with Real Sociedad last weekend.
The story changed on Sunday as Toni Payne had hands in two of her team’s five goals during the big win over Villarreal.
Payne assisted Ana Franco for the first goal of the game in the tenth minute. 13 minutes later, the Super Falcons foward went on to provide the latter with another assist which resulted in Sevilla’s second goal.
Ana Franco completed her hat-trick in the 54th minute before Cristina Martin-Prieto Gutierrez converted Sevilla’s fifth goal.
Paraguay’s Jessica Dahiana Martinez Villagra had increased Sevilla’s lead to three in the 28th minute.
Payne saw 80 minutes of action before she was substituted for Almudena Rivero.
Sevilla FC occupy the eighth position on the Liga F log with four points from four games.
The team will next face the newly promoted, Alhama on October 22, 2022, hoping to continue its winning rhythm.
