Nigeria international Antionette Oyedupe Payne has announced her departure from the Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino side, Sevilla.
The Super Falcons midfielder, who won numerous titles with the team and was a key part of their midfield force, is leaving after six seasons. During her tenure, she played 177 games, scored 30 goals, and provided 24 assists.
In a series of infographics on her social platforms, Payne shared her heartfelt farewell, expressing her deep connection to the club and the city.
“When I arrived from Amsterdam to Seville, I never imagined that I would spend 6 years in this beautiful city, which made me feel like a true Sevillian,” she said.
“After just one season, I understood the meaning of being part of this club. I have been fortunate enough to wear the Sevilla FC shirt and proudly say that I have defended this badge for 6 seasons, playing 177 games, scoring 30 goals, and providing 24 assists.
“I feel very happy if, with the greatest humility, I have been able to help the team grow. More than a club, Sevilla has been a part of my life, growing and learning daily alongside such magnificent people.
“Anyone who has been part of this club knows that the moment of farewell is not easy, and in my case, after so many seasons at the club, you can imagine that it is even more difficult. Thank you for the love you have shown me from day one and for how you have made me feel.”
While Payne’s next destination remains unconfirmed, there is speculation that she might be moving to English side Everton.
For now, the Nigerian midfielder is on national duty with the Super Falcons, preparing for their first Olympic Games appearance since 2008.
