Former Dundee manager Tony Docherty has praised Kelechi Iheanacho following his decisive contribution in Celtic FC’s 2-1 victory over Dundee FC.
Iheanacho, who has faced a challenging season due to fitness issues, made a telling impact off the bench, scoring the winner with eight minutes remaining after finishing a well-delivered cross from Marcelo Saracchi.
Earlier in the match, Yang Hyun-Jun had given Celtic the lead before Simon Murray equalised from the penalty spot in the 57th minute.
However, Iheanacho’s late strike at Dens Park proved decisive, ensuring Celtic claimed all three points in their Scottish Premiership title push.
Speaking on BBC Scotland, Docherty commended both Celtic’s late-game resurgence and Iheanacho’s clinical finish.
“Celtic have started to do what they were doing in the first half. It’s a great finish from Iheanacho,” he said.
The goal marked a timely return to scoring form for Iheanacho, whose campaign has been hampered by injuries. The 29-year-old had last found the net in a 3-2 win over Motherwell FC in October.
Now with three goals in seven league appearances, Iheanacho will be eager to build momentum as Celtic continue their push to retain the Scottish Premiership title.
