Transfer News: Osimhen frustrates Napoli with rejection of Manchester United move

By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s decision to turn down a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window has left his parent club, Napoli, increasingly frustrated.

The 26-year-old, currently on loan at Turkish club Galatasaray, has reportedly made it clear he intends to stay with the Super Lig side until the end of the season, despite United’s lucrative offer.

This news, according to La Repubblica, has added to the tension surrounding Osimhen’s future.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan in September, following a summer filled with transfer speculation, including rejected moves to Chelsea and Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli.

Napoli had inserted an €81 million break-up clause in Osimhen’s contract, hoping to capitalize on his form and secure a hefty transfer fee this January.

However, Osimhen’s decision to reject Manchester United’s interest has angered Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

He considers the situation as another example of Osimhen creating complications for the club as they navigate a difficult transfer window.
