Troost-Ekong Ruled Out of Bursaspor Clash Due to Injury

Bursaspor’s reliable defender, William Troost-Ekong, is set to miss the upcoming Turkish Super Lig fixture against Konyaspor on Sunday due to a muscle strain sustained during the Turkish Cup encounter against Adanaspor on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles center-back, who has been a consistent presence for Bursaspor this season, had to leave the field in the 78th minute of the cup clash, with Ismail Konuk stepping in as his replacement. Following thorough medical examinations, it was revealed that Troost-Ekong has a first-degree muscle strain in his right leg.

In an official statement on the Bursaspor website, the club confirmed the injury, stating, “Based on the controls performed and the MR result, William Ekong was found to have a first-degree muscle strain in the right posterior canal. Ekong started treatment immediately with our health team, and he will return for our Super League in our home clash against Fenerbahce on December 15.”

The 24-year-old, who joined Bursaspor from Belgian club Gent earlier this summer, expressed his gratitude to the fans for their support during this period of injury. Troost-Ekong remains optimistic about his recovery, as he conveyed on his Twitter handle, saying, “Good win last night away in the cup. Thanks for the messages; I will be back fit soon! #TexasliEkong 🐊💪🏽.” The defender aims to return to action promptly, ready to contribute to Bursaspor’s campaign in the Turkish Super Lig.
