U-20 World Cup: Jolomi Atune urges Ladan Bosso to fortify defense and attack

Former Assistant coach of the Nigeria U-20 team, Jolomi Atune has advised the national U-20 coach, Ladan Bosso to fortify the team’s attack and defence ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Nigeria finished third at 2023 U-20 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) which automatically sealed the team place at the global stage and the Warri Wolves gaffer tasked the team to have a strong defensive and attacking department.
“I don’t think they should overhaul the team. All they need is certain positions like up front and the defense. I think 75% of players should stay for team bonding and bring in 25%.” Jolomi told Brila FM.
“We scored more goals in almost every game but we concede in our training matches. That’s why I think we need to improve the defence aspect of the team, especially the centre-back.”
As Nigeria awaits the confirmation of the new FIFA U-20 World Cup host, the team is in Pot 3 alongside Uzbekistan, Japan, Iraq, Honduras, and Fiji.
The West African side could meet the likes of England, Uruguay, the United States of America (USA), France, South Korea, Brazil, and Colombia in the group stage.
There are all indications that Argentina would be hosting the tournament, with the South American side failing to qualify for the global youth competition, hosting will allow it to play at the competition.
