Nigeria U20 defender Abel Ogbwuche is confident the team will have a successful tournament in Argentina.
The World Cup is set to kick off on May 20, and Nigeria will take on Brazil, Italy and Dominican Republic in the group stage.
And the 19-year-old Trelleborgs star assures that the Flying Eagles are not going to make up the numbers but to get at least a semifinal berth despite having a tough group to contend with in the South American soil.
“We expect positive results, we’re going to Argentina not to make up the number but to participate and reach the semifinals at least,” BSN Sports quoted Ogwuche as saying.
“Well, what came to my mind is that we are a very tough group and have more work to do. Brazil is a big side, and so is Italy. So we have a lot to do to reach the semifinals, or the finals.
“Of course, I remain positive. And with our hard work, we can. Every single team in the competition can be an obstacle. We are not looking down on any of the teams. No team is big or small. We will approach every team the same way.”
The Nigeria U20 side will depart Nigeria on the sixth of May to Argentina as they step up their preparations in the host country.
