UCL: Osimhen bags brace as Galatasaray sweep aside Bodø/Glimt in Istanbul

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen continued his red-hot form with a brilliant brace as Galatasaray eased to a 3–1 victory over FK Bodø/Glimt in their UEFA Champions League League Stage clash at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex on Wednesday night.

Osimhen, who recently netted a hat-trick for the Super Eagles in their World Cup playoff triumph in Morocco, picked up right where he left off on the European stage.

The 26-year-old opened the scoring just three minutes into the match and doubled the Turkish champions’ lead in the 33rd minute with a composed finish, taking his UCL tally for the season to three goals.

Yunus Akgün added a third in the 60th minute to seal victory for Okan Buruk’s side, who dominated large spells of the encounter despite a late consolation from the Norwegian visitors.

The win marked back-to-back Champions League triumphs for Galatasaray, moving them to six points and strengthening their position in the group standings.

“It was crucial that we won—it was a very important match,” Osimhen said after the game. “I’m proud of my teammates’ performance and thankful to the staff and coaches. The opponent pushed us hard in the second half, but we held firm and got a big result.”

Osimhen’s commanding display underlined his status as one of Europe’s most in-form forwards, as he continues to lead both club and country with confidence and class.
