By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigerian trio of Asisat Oshoala, and Halimatu Ayinde and Christy Ucheibe will meet in the group stage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) after the Thursday’s draw on Friday.

Oshoala’s Barcelona will meet Ucheibe’s SL Benfica for the second time at the same stage of the competition and they will also face Halimatu Ayinde’s Rosengard in Group A.

While Nicole Payne’s PSG were drawn in Group C alongside German champion, Bayern Munich, AS Roma, and Ajax.

Chiamaka Nnadozie’s maiden appearance in the UWCL will see her French side, Paris FC trade tackles with English champions, Chelsea FC, Real Madrid, and BK Hacken.

The top two teams after six round-robin games in home and away format will qualify for the quarter-final.

Oshoala remained the only African and Nigerian player to win the UWCL with two titles to her name as the team won their second title last season after a win over Wolfsburg in the 2022 final.

The other four Nigerian players will hope to edge Oshoala to securing their first ever European crown this season.
