UWCL: Chiamaka Nnadozie gears up for big clash with Chelsea

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie and her French side, Paris FC are preparing for a huge match against English Women’s Super League (WSL) holders, Chelsea FC in the second group match of the 2023/2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) on Thursday.

The Super Falcons save hands hope to redeem herself after a 2-1 loss to Swedish side, BK Hacken in their first group game.

They warmed up with a 1-0 win over Bordeaux in the French D1 Arkema last weekend.

Nnadozie played a crucial role by saving a series of penalties to help her side reach a historic group stage of the UWCL.

The 2023 CAF Player of the Year and goalkeeper of the Year nominee is confident of her team picking their first point against last season’s semi-finalist after seeing off the elimination of two teams that reached the last four, Arsenal and finalist Wolfsburg in the qualifiers.

Chelsea FC manager who was recently appointed the coach of the United States Women’s National Women’s (USWNT) has been livid over their 2-2 draw with Real Madrid the last time out in the Champions League.

Her team shrugged off the disappointment with a 5-1 bashing of Liverpool in the WSL last weekend.

The Blues seek their first win in the group stage of the UWCL this season against Nnadozie’s Paris FC.

It promises to be an exciting clash in the UWCL as both sides seek redemption from a shaky opening group game.
