UWCL: Christy Ucheibe inspires Benfica to slim win over Rosengard

Nigerian combative midfielder, Christy Ucheibe produced player of the match performance on Wednesday to help Benfica recorded their first UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage win over Rosengard with 1-0 win.

The Super Falcons’ midfielder played a pivotal role in the encounter played at the Estadio da Luiz stadium in Portugal.

Kika Nazareth scored the decisive goal in the 52nd minutes giving the home fans something to cheer after the opening group stage defeat to Barcelona.

Benfica now have three points after the Wednesday win and are now occupying third on the log same as Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt while Barcelona maintained top spot with six points after their 3-1 win over German side.

Ucheibe who was one of the stand out performers at the last FIFA Women’s World Cup with Super Falcons continued to make significant impact with Benfica.
