Victor Osimhen escapes another TikTok troll after Napoli penalty miss

Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen’s penalty woes continued as Napoli ran away with a 2-1 win over Juventus in a Serie A clash at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Sunday night.

The Nigerian had scored in Napoli’s last three games in all competitions and could have continued his scoring streak but missed the golden chance to do so.

The Napoli striker saw his spot-kick saved by Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny but Giacomo Raspadori reacted quickest to slot home the rebound for a winning goal.

Osimhen won the penalty when the referee deemed a tackle from Joseph Nonge caught the striker on the ankle after a review on the pitchside monitor.

The 25-year-old stepped out to take the penalty but his effort was saved by goalkeeper Szczesny. This is not the first time the reigning African Footballer of the Year would miss from the spot in Napoli’s shirt.

In fact, he was the subject of an online dispute with his Club following a troll video of his penalty miss against Bologna last year.

The Italian side posted a video on TikTok with a high-pitched voice showing Osimhen missing a penalty.

Thanks to Giacomo Raspadori who was fast enough to score from the follow-up in the 88th minute, the Nigerian striker is saved from another drama.

Meanwhile, Osimhen has scored 11 goals in 16 league appearances for the Serie A champions this season.

Napoli have now won five home matches in a row against Juventus for the first time in their Serie A’s history.

The defending champions are currently 7th on the Serie A table, three points below Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta who occupy the qualification spot for the UEFA Conference League.
