Victor Osimhen scored the only goal of the match as Galatasaray secured a 1-0 victory over Konyaspor at Rams Park on Saturday, strengthening their grip on top spot in the Turkish Super Lig.
The 26-year-old’s decisive penalty in the 20th minute helped Galatasaray bounce back to winning ways, with Osimhen continuing to prove his importance to the team.
The Nigerian striker was a constant threat to Konyaspor’s defense and won the penalty after being fouled by Ismael Jakobs inside the box.
The 2023 CAF Player of the Year confidently converted the penalty, marking his 12th goal of the season in the process.
Osimhen had an early opportunity in the 12th minute when he rose high to meet a cross in the box, but his header went wide of the target.
Despite having six attempts throughout the match, he was only able to score once. Nevertheless, his all-around performance and contributions were crucial as Galatasaray secured the vital three points.
Osimhen played the full 90 minutes, and his efforts helped Galatasaray extend their lead at the top of the league standings, now with 54 points from 20 matches.
