Victor Osimhen: Napoli president rules out summer sale of Nigerian striker

By Wale Mustapha
President of Serie A league leaders, Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis has denied speculation of the club selling their price asset striker, Victor Osimhen in the summer.
The Super Eagles striker has been on the radar of top Premier League clubs over the January transfer window, with Manchester United and Chelsea being the most optimistic to secure his signature.
Manchester United made the Osimhen their top priority as they were also looking to fall back on buying Harry Kane if they failed to sign the former Lille man on a long-term contract.
Laurentiis, who admitted to pressure from top clubs to lure his players, said the club is not desperate to sell.
“I can tell you that Osimhen is not for sale”, De Laurentiis said.
“Our players are in demand, but I don’t have to sell anyone. We don’t have any debts”, he added.
Chelsea is also linked with the 24-year-old star as the club is undergoing a tense struggle to score goals. Osimhen and his teammate, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have been the most sought-after players from top suitors.
The Nigerian footballer joined the Serie A giants in 2020 from LOSC Lille for £62.4 million with a contract expiring in 2025.
He has scored 16 goals in 17 Serie A appearances this campaign helping Napoli inch closer to win their first Scudetto since 1990.
