WAFCON 2024: Folashade Ijamilusi Upbeat Super Falcons Can Conquer Africa Again

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Super Falcons forward Folashade Ijamilusi is brimming with confidence ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), expressing her belief that Nigeria can reclaim their dominance on the continent.

The Liaoning Baiye striker, a surprise inclusion in Nigeria’s squad for Morocco 2024, is eager to make the most of her first major international tournament. The former Robo Queens star described her call-up as a dream come true.

“I’d say I feel grateful to be among the team and since it’s my first time, I’m blessed,” Ijamilusi told the Super Falcons media team.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons, the most successful team in WAFCON history with nine titles, are eyeing a record-extending 10th crown as they head to Morocco.

Ijamilusi is optimistic about the team’s chances and is backing the squad to deliver a strong performance at the biennial competition.

“My expectation is to have a good outing with the team and also win the WAFCON by God’s grace,” she added.

The promising forward made headlines when she scored a hat-trick on her debut for the Super Falcons in a friendly against Algeria last year. Her inclusion brings fresh energy and depth to a squad determined to reclaim its continental crown.
