WAFU-B U-20 Women Cup: Esther Onyenezide promises not to let Nigerians down

Nigeria U-20 midfielder, Esther Onyenezide has promised Nigerians to do her best alongside her teammates in returning to the country with the maiden WAFU-B U-20 Women’s Cup title.

Following a 7-0 opening triumph over Niger Republic, the Falconets followed up with a 6-0 thrashing of Togo at the ongoing WAFU B U20 Women’s Tournament to book a place in the semi-final in Kumasi, Ghana.

Onyenezide made it three from the spot in the Falconets thrashing of the Togolese and the youngster assures more goal contributions to inspire her side to title domestic glory.

“I feel so glad and happy getting into the next stage in this tournament,” Onyenezide told Nigeriafootball.ng.

“We feel so excited about scoring many goals. I am excited with my current teammates here because we are putting every training the coaches have thought us into practice in every game we play.”

The Falconets have a final group phase clash with Burkina Faso (8-0 winners over Niger Republic) on Sunday, but they are already assured of a place in the last four with maximum of six points and 13 goals advantage.

“Nigerians should be expecting a good result because we the Falconets will play out our best in this tournament and we won’t let them down,” the Robo Queens starlet said.

“My personal ambition in this tournament is to win gold for Nigeria on this first-ever edition of WAFU U-20 Cup.”
