Kwara United coach, Azeez Audu Mohammed said the team has a big 90 minutes ahead to guarantee their progression in spite of a 3-1 success against RS Berkane of Morocco in Lagos.
The Harmony Boys had to come from a goal down before scoring three goals in 15 minutes to earn a win over RS Berkane after Djibril Ouatarra scored the first goal of the match for RS Berkane in the seventh minute.
The hosts waited till the 74th minute to find an equalising goal from Taofeek before two more goals from Jimoh Wasiu and Daniel Barnabas in the 81st and 88th minute respectively handed the Ilorin side a comeback home win.
“We are playing the defending Champions. The match is not over yet. We have to go there and put up a wonderful performance in a bid to get a positive result,” coach Mohammed told journalists in his post-match reactions.
RS Berkane will take a precious away goal to Morocco ahead of the return leg next week but Kwara United’s gaffer is confident about upsetting the title holders in front of their own fans.
He said: “We can hope of qualifying for the next round with this first leg result as we still have a tough 90 minutes ahead of us. By the grace of God, we will overcome and make it to the next round.”
The return leg will take on October 15, at the Stade Municipal de Berkane, Berkane, Morocco. The winner of the game on aggregate will qualify for the final Preliminary Round of the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup.
