Former Nigeria international Victor Ikpeba has expressed confidence that Victor Osimhen will break the all-time Super Eagles goal-scoring record held by the legendary Rashidi Yekini.
Osimhen moved into second place on the list after scoring a brace in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Rwanda last Friday in Kigali.
The 26-year-old striker has now netted 25 goals in 39 appearances for the Super Eagles, just 12 goals shy of Yekini’s record of 37.
Ikpeba, who himself was part of the Super Eagles’ golden generation, believes that Osimhen is well on his way to surpassing Yekini’s long-standing record.
“By the way he is going, Osimhen will soon eclipse Yekini’s record,” Ikpeba said.
“He’s a fantastic lad and a committed player who gives everything for the country. We will soon see when he will break this record.”
Osimhen, who plays for Napoli in Italy’s Serie A, continues to impress with his goal-scoring prowess, and many are eager to see him break another major milestone in Nigerian football history.
