Super Falcons Fall to Cameroon in First Friendly

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team suffered a narrow 1–0 defeat to Cameroon women’s national football team after conceding a late goal in their international friendly encounter.
The decisive moment came deep into stoppage time, with Mbomezomo Yvana finding the breakthrough in the 90th minute to hand Cameroon victory in the first match of the two-game series.
The result means the Nigeria women’s national football team will be eager to respond in the second leg after what was a closely contested affair.
Both sides are using the double-header as part of preparations for the 2026 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The two teams also met in build-up games ahead of the last WAFCON tournament, where Justine Madugu’s side defeated the Indomitable Lionesses 2–0 in Abeokuta before going on to lift their 10th continental title in Morocco.
Nigeria will now shift focus to the return fixture as they aim to level the series and continue fine-tuning their squad ahead of the continental showpiece.
