Wikki Tourists and Barau FC have secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following commanding victories at the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 tournament.
Wikki Tourists sealed their return to the top flight in emphatic fashion with a 4–0 win over Yobe Desert Stars in their final Group A match on Tuesday in Asaba.
The Bauchi-based club showcased dominance throughout the match, confirming their place in the 2025/26 NPFL season.
In Group B, Barau FC of Kano made history by clinching their first-ever NPFL promotion.
The team defeated Doma United 2–0 in Ozoro, rounding off a strong campaign with a result that cements their place among Nigeria’s football elite.
With the promotion of Wikki Tourists and Barau FC, two of the four NPFL slots available through the NNL Super 8 have now been filled.
The remaining spots will be decided in the next round of matches, as the tournament nears its conclusion.
The final matchday is expected to deliver high-stakes drama, with teams vying for the last two promotion tickets to complete the NPFL lineup for the upcoming season.
