Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi has etched his name into Premier League history by surpassing the legendary Jay Jay Okocha’s record for assists. Ndidi achieved this milestone in Leicester City’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The 27-year-old midfielder, playing an attacking role for Leicester City, provided crucial assists for both of the Foxes’ goals, scored by Jamie Vardy and Stephy Mavididi. Despite Leicester City’s lead of 2-0, Palace mounted a comeback to level the match.
Ndidi’s two assists on Saturday brought his total to 12, surpassing Okocha’s career tally of 10 Premier League assists. Okocha, a revered figure in Nigerian football, made 125 Premier League appearances for Bolton Wanderers, scoring 14 goals and providing 10 assists before leaving England.
While Nwankwo Kanu remains the all-time leader for Nigerian players with 33 Premier League assists, Ndidi now ranks behind Peter Odemwingie and Victor Anichebe in the assist records.
