William Troost-Ekong: Debut win with Salernitana delights Super Eagles’ captain

Assistant captain of Nigeria men senior national team, William Troost-Ekong has expressed delight with how he kick started his second coming to Italia Serie A.
Troost-Ekong who joined Salernitana last week from Watford made a winning start with his new club as he guided them to 2-1 away win at Lecce.
Senegalese striker, Boualaye Dia gave Salernitana the lead inside opening five minutes of the match before Tonny Vilhena scored from the spot in the 20th minutes.
Lecce later pulled one back through Gabriel Strefezza as they tried to stage a comeback but Salenitana’s defense stood through the duel to claim the match points.
Super Eagles defender who has previously played for Udinese in the Lega Calcio some seasons ago played for the entire duration in the Friday victory.
The victory also ended Salernitana’s run of miserable run in the league including a disastrous 8-2 to Atalanta and 2-0 defeat to neighbors Napoli.
Ekong who reacted to the victory through his verified Twitter page said it was an important win for his new club which will help them get better as the season wind down.
“It was a good win and three important for the team. Let’s go boys”, he remarked.
The Nigerian international will be aiming for his second start for Salernitana when they host Juventus next week.
