Women’s football: CAF confirms eight nations for Ghana 2023 African Games

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the participating countries that will take part in the women’s football category of the Ghana 2023 African Games in Accra.
Eight women’s U20 national teams will battle it out for medals at the games which will be hosted by Ghana, with Nigeria the defending champions following their gold medal win over Cameroon on penalties in Morocco in 2019.
The participating countries selected were eight finalists of the African qualifiers for the Colombia 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The countries are hosts Ghana, 2019 finalists Cameroon, Ethiopia, Morocco, holders Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Just as the last edition, this women’s football event will be competed strictly among U-20 teams.
The African Games Accra 2023 will take place from 8-24 March 2024 in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.
Nigeria reclaimed gold in the women’s football event at the last edition, breaking their 12 years jinx for the third.
