Women’s World Cup star Deborah Abiodun ecstatic about first Pittsburgh University

Nigeria international Deborah Abiodun has continued her impressive momentum with her Pittsburgh University side in the United States of America (USA) following her impressive Women’s World Cup debut.
The 19-year-old started against Olympic champions Canada in their opening group match but was sent late into the game and never returned to the lineup due to a match ban before Nigeria crashed out in the round of 16.
However, “Kante” as fondly called, who recently moved from NWFL side Rivers Angels to American collegiate team Pittsburgh Panthers in April, has bounced back from her unfortunate World Cup outing with impressive form.
Abiodun was in action as the Pittsburgh Panthers defeated the Bucknell Bisons 5-0 at Ambrose Urbanic Field to continue their undefeated season.
In the 59th minute, Abiodun scored her first collegiate career goal heading the ball from a set piece delivered by Keera Melenhorst.
She took to her official X account to celebrate with a video that carries a message that reads: “It’s an indescribable feeling to score my first goal for @Pitt_WSOC and very grateful to my supportive players and technical staff.
“God and you guys made it possible.”
Abiodun returns to action when the Pittsburgh Panthers host Duquesne in a city battle at the Ambrose Urbanic Field on Thursday, August 31.
