World Cup Qualifier: Nigeria is afraid of South Africa – Hugo Broos

South Africa head coach, Hugo Broos has claimed that the Super Eagles were afraid of his side when they met at the 2023 AFCON despite being on the losing end.
Nigeria defeated Bafana Bafana on penalties after playing a 1-1 draw in the semifinals of the tournament.
With both sides now set to face off again in a doubleheader World Cup qualifiers, Hugo has pointed out one weakness of his opponent as expressed his optimism towards his team.
“I saw during the game, the coach of Nigeria was always telling his players, ‘go back, go back’ because they were afraid to lose against us,” Hugo said, during an interview with SABC Sports.
“We were very, very close. We played a very good game. I think one minute to the end, the big chance that Khuliso had, if he could have scored that goal, we were in the final.
“And as I said earlier, if we were in the final, we had a chance against Ivory Coast.”
