2023 AFCON: Senegal will respond against Nigeria, says Edouard Mendy

Senegal goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy says they are ready to confront Nigeria and other teams in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Teranga Lions defeated Egypt to emerge champions of the AFCON for the first time in Cameroon and Mendy said all teams are waiting for them but they are calm as possible.

The Chelsea goalkeeper are hoping they have a complete squad to defend their title effortlessly and admitted there’s still a lot to do.

“Everyone’s waiting for us and we’re going to have to respond as calmly as possible. We’ve gained experience,” Mendy was quoted by BSN Sports.

“We have to hope that the team is complete so that we can progress and produce a fine African Cup of Nations.

“There’s still a lot of work to do before this African Cup, which is going to be very tough.”

Senegal are grouped in group C of the AFCON and will challenge Cameroon, Gambia and Guinea for a place in the round of 16.
