Newly crowned CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Chiamaka Nnadozie has delivered a message to young and aspiring girls wishing to play football.
Nigeria’s senior women’s national team goalie after receiving the 2023 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award following her superb performance for club and country earned her the gong as the first-ever winner of the award.
The Super Falcons shot-stopper beat the duo of Andile Dlamini (South Africa) and Khadija Er-rmichi (Morocco) to win the prize.
The 23-year-old Paris star encouraged the girls to dream big and chase them till it come true amidst challenges.
“To all the young girls growing up in Africa, dreaming of becoming a footballer one day, believe me, dreams do come true,” Nnadozie said during the 2023 CAF Awards.
“My dad didn’t want me to play football but I’m sure he’s gonna see this and be happy. So, keep dreaming, keep working and I believe that one day you’ll get to this stage.”
Saving multiple penalties for the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and Paris FC in the UEFA Women’s Champions League earned her the prize.
