2023 ICMC: Indomitable Imo Strikers set up final clash with Giant Empress

Imo Strikers secured a 3-1 win over newly promoted NWFL Championship outfit, Fortress Ladies in the semi-final of the 2023 Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup (ICMC) at St Patrick School Field, Asaba, on Saturday.

In-form forward, Chidi Harmony scored the first goal of the encounter in the 38th minute for the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Championship side.

She doubled the lead for Nelly Orisakwe’s side in the 46th minute before Favour Enodumwenben reduced the deficit for the Benin City-based side.

Oscar Precious sealed the win with the third goal in the 65th minute as she scored six goals for Imo Strikers after five games, four goals short of the top goal scorer and teammate, Harmony.

In the second semi-final game, non-league side, Giant Empress played out a 0-0 draw with third-tier NWFL Nationwide team, Delta Babes.

The former recorded a 5-3 win on penalties to set up a final date with Imo Strikers.

The third-place match will take place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba between Fortress Ladies and Delta Babes on Sunday morning.

The final match between Imo Strikers and Giant Empress is scheduled for Sunday evening.
