2024 CAF Women’s Champions League: Governor Monday Okpebholo backs Edo Queens to win title

The Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo has encouraged Edo Queens to give their best and bring the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League title back to Nigeria.
Moses Aduku’s side put up a spirited performance to beat two-time champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa 2-1 to top Group B, setting up a semi-final date with TP Mazembe (Democratic Republic of Congo) in the semi-final.
The Governor, who is in Ondo state for the Gubernatorial election, charged the players and officials to continue to give their best.
In a video call conversation with the team in Morocco, the number one citizen of the state promised to host the team upon arrival in the country.
Head coach Aduku assured the Governor that the players will work towards winning the semi-final and final game to bring the trophy home.
Captain of the team, Osakpolor Efe, echoed the views of coach Aduku while thanking the Governor for his support.
On Tuesday, the Benin City-based side will hope to become Nigeria’s first team to reach the final of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
By upsetting two-time champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, Edo Queens put themselves in contention to win the title.
