The Golden Eaglets, five-time world champions, have successfully progressed to the semi-finals of the football event at the 22nd National Sports Festival currently taking place in Ogun State.

Abdulmuiz Adeleke, who scored the opening goal in the 2-1 victory over Edo State on Monday, excelled again by netting two goals against Ebonyi State in the quarter-final match on Friday morning, which the Eaglets won decisively with a score of 5-0, securing their place in the last four.

Mohammed Imrana, who contributed the second goal against Edo State, also found the net, although he faced misfortune by receiving a red card in the final moments of the match. Destiny Samuel and Emmanuel Ochigbo were the other players who scored.

On Thursday, the Flamingos played to a 0-0 draw with Lagos State. They currently lead Group B with five points, ahead of their final group stage match against Enugu State, who have yet to earn any points.

Delta and Lagos State are closely trailing the Flamingos, each with four points.

Osun State is at the top of the four-team Group A with seven points, while Ogun and Edo State follow with five and four points, respectively.
