President Federation Cup: Rivers Angels edge Ibom Angels, set up final date with Nasarawa Amazons

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Defending champions Rivers Angels have qualified for the final of the 2025 President Federation Cup after a 1-0 win over Ibom Angels in the semi-final encounter at Enyimba Stadium, Aba on Saturday.

Aminat Folorunsho’s second-half goal lifted the Jewels of Rivers to their consecutive Cup final.

Ifeoma Polinus had the first chance of the encounter in the fifth minute, but the Orange Ladies goalkeeper, Godstime Dickson, saved the attempt.

Five minutes later, the Port Harcourt-based side continued to pile up pressure on their opponents as Patience Otubo, this time, fired an effort off the post.

Dickson made another save to deny the holders from taking the lead in the 38th minute.

She also saved Mary Moses’ header from Chisom Nwachukwu’s cross two minutes into the second half.

Folorunsho was not to be denied in the 63rd minute as her shot beat Dickson scoring the winning goal in the process.

Rivers Angels were reduced to 10 players in the additional minutes of the second half as Otubo was sent off for retaliation.

That couldn’t deny them the qualification for the final where they will face Nasarawa Amazons.

The Solid Babes defeated Edo Queens 2-0 in the other semi-final match.
