2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Rwanda’s Kwizera Banks on home support to beat Nigeria

Rwanda’s Jojea Kwizera is counting on the passionate support of home fans to help the Amavubi secure a crucial win over Nigeria’s Super Eagles in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday.

The two teams will face off at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, with Rwanda looking to extend their unbeaten run in the qualifiers.

Under the guidance of head coach Adel Amrouche, the Amavubi have made an impressive start, collecting three wins and a draw from their opening four matches, placing them at the top of Group D with seven points.

Kwizera, who is a key figure in the Rwandan squad, made an impassioned appeal to the home fans through a video posted by the Rwanda Football Association on X (formerly Twitter), urging the crowd to turn out in full force and support the team as they take on the Super Eagles.

“I’d like to invite everyone this Friday to come support us as we play Nigeria in our World Cup qualifier. We have a really big advantage playing at home,” Kwizera said.

“We also have another important game coming up against Lesotho. We want everyone to come and show us support.”

The Rwandan squad is eager to build on their strong form and will be hoping the home crowd can provide the boost needed to overcome a Super Eagles side with high expectations of their own.

With Rwanda’s impressive start to the qualifiers, the match is expected to be a tightly contested battle, with both teams eyeing vital points in their pursuit of World Cup qualification.
