“He showed everybody” – Jose Peseiro hails Alhassan Yusuf’s impact against Equatorial Guinea

By Wale Mustapha

Head Coach of Nigeria, Jose Peseiro is delighted with the performance of young midfielder, Alhassan Yusuf in the country’s 1-1 African Cup of Nations draw against Equatorial Guinea in Abidjan on Sunday.

Yusuf had made the 40-man provisional squad and did not later make the initial final list of 25 until the injury of Wilfred Ndidi paved way for the Belgium based star.

The young midfielder was handed his competitive debut against the Nzalang Nationale and was a stand out player for the Super Eagles before he was replaced by Joe Aribo in the 68th minute due to injury.

When ask about his thoughts on Yusuf’s performance, Peseiro admits that the Royal Antwerp midfielder was wonderful and excellent, while hoping he will be available for the Cote d’Ivoire match.

“I hope that this injury is not a big injury,” Peseiro told media.

“I hope the injury is not strong so that he can play the next match because he showed everybody that he deserves to play for the Super Eagles.”

The Super Eagles will play Ivory Coast in four days at the same stadium.
