Nigerian-American coach Michael Nsien has thrown his hat into the ring for the vacant position of head coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, the Super Eagles.
With the departure of Jose Peseiro, who led the team to a commendable second-place finish in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Ivory Coast, the search for a new head coach is underway.
Nsien, who has submitted his application and resume for the position, believes he is the ideal candidate to lead the three-time AFCON winners to greater success.
“I am the best of both worlds, as a Nigerian-American, I have a passion for the Super Eagles; I also know the responsibilities that come with that position as head coach,” Nsien said in an interview monitored on TVC.
“I have experience working in an environment that spares no expenses in technology, has top scouting infrastructure, and coaching collaboration from top to bottom.”
“I believe I offer the best of both worlds. As a Nigerian-American, I have a deep passion for the Super Eagles, coupled with an understanding of the responsibilities that come with the role of head coach,” Nsien stated confidently.
Drawing on his extensive experience and deep knowledge of the game, Nsien highlighted his ability to navigate the complexities of Nigerian football and elevate the team to new heights.
“I know where we are in Nigerian football, and I know the gap that exists. I can bridge the gap and help us reach the level that we should be at in world football,” he added.
“It’s time to change course and move forward. I want to put smiles on the faces of our people.”
Nsien, who previously represented Nigeria at the U23 level, currently serves as the Head Coach of the United States U19 national team.
