Captain of Abia Warriors, Augustine Njoku, has called for continued support from the club’s fans as they navigate through a challenging season in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Warriors will host Niger Tornadoes in a crucial Matchday 16 encounter at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.
With both teams fighting to improve their standings on the league table, Njoku emphasized the importance of this match, urging the fans to rally behind the team.
“My message to Abia Warriors fans is just to plead with them because of the level of inconsistency in the team now,” Njoku said in a statement to the club’s media.
“Talking about getting results, I’m pleading with the fans to still give us a little time because the team, as I’ve always said, is a work-in-progress.”
Njoku remains optimistic about the future and believes that the team will show improvements in the remaining four matches of the first round.
“I believe going forward, in the next four games of the first round, they will see a new Abia Warriors,” he added.
He concluded by urging fans to turn out in large numbers and support the team, as they aim for victory against Niger Tornadoes.
“So, I urge them to still come out en masse to support and cheer us to victory on Sunday.”
The match is scheduled for 4:00 PM at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
