CAF appoints Senegalese referees for Nigeria vs South Africa U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifier

By Dayo Awoniyi

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed a Senegalese refereeing team for the highly anticipated FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifier between Nigeria’s Flamingos and South Africa’s Bantwana.

Aida Sy will lead the officiating team as the referee, while her compatriots Ndeye Aissa Ndiaye, Ndeye Sarr Ndiaye, and Fatoumata Sall Toure will serve as assistant 1, assistant 2, and fourth official, respectively.

The match commissioner will be Ghana’s Naa Odofoley Nortey, and Cameroon’s Agar Mezing will serve as the referee assessor.

Set for Saturday, this crucial encounter will determine which team advances to the final round of the qualification series for the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Nigeria’s Flamingos go into the match with a 3-1 aggregate advantage following their victory over South Africa in Pretoria last Saturday. However, South Africa’s Bantwana have promised a strong fightback in the return leg in Ikenne.

The winner on aggregate will secure a spot at the expanded 24-nation tournament, which is scheduled to take place from October 17 to November 8, 2025.
