Fidelis Ilechukwu Backs AFCON Experience to Drive Rangers International’s Growth

Nigeria assistant coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has expressed confidence that Rangers International will reap major benefits from his experience with the Nigeria national team following the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Ilechukwu, who also serves as head coach of the Enugu-based side, was part of the Super Eagles’ technical crew that guided Nigeria to a third-place finish at the continental tournament.

Speaking after rejoining Rangers on Thursday, the coach said the exposure gained at international level would help raise the club’s standards, with a long-term vision of turning Rangers into a dominant force in Nigerian and African football.

“In the next few years, Rangers International will look like this current Super Eagles squad,” Ilechukwu said. “Hopefully, the state and the people will benefit from what we are building.”

He added that working closely with elite players at AFCON had sharpened his technical perspective and strengthened his belief in developing a highly competitive team capable of sustained success.

Ilechukwu now shifts focus back to domestic football as he prepares Rangers International for their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash against Warri Wolves on Sunday.
