NPFL: Abdu Maikaba hails Wikki Tourists’ resilience After Barau FC draw

By Wale Mustapha

Wikki Tourists head coach Abdu Maikaba has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following their goalless draw against Barau FC in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 11 fixture on Sunday in Kano.

The Bauchi Elephants dominated large spells of the encounter but were denied by Barau’s goalkeeper Yusuf Mohammed, who made several key saves to keep the hosts in the game.

Despite missing chances to secure maximum points, Maikaba said he was pleased with his side’s overall display and described the result as a positive step in their recent improvement.

“It was important we were able to grab a point here in Kano — it’s encouraging for the team and also means a lot as far as the league is concerned,” Maikaba told the club’s media after the match.

He added that the team would continue to build on the performance as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.

“We’ll keep improving, strategising better, and ensure we perform even stronger in coming games,” he said.

Wikki Tourists will next host Niger Tornadoes this weekend at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.
