NPFL: George Finidi hails Rivers United’s resilient draw Against Bendel Insurance

By Wale Mustapha

Rivers United head coach George Finidi has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following their goalless draw against Insurance FC in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 9 fixture on Wednesday.

The Pride of Rivers held the Benin Arsenals to a stalemate at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, in what Finidi described as a hard-fought encounter.

Finidi, whose side remain Nigeria’s sole representative on the continental stage, admitted that he anticipated a tough contest but praised his players for their discipline and resilience.

“To be honest, it’s a good result for us because we knew it was going to be a difficult game,” Finidi told Rivers United Media.

“We didn’t expect to suffer this much, but I’m happy with the boys’ effort and determination to hold on till the end.”

The result leaves Rivers United sixth on the NPFL table with 17 points from 10 matches and one game in hand.

Finidi’s men will next travel to Owerri to face Kun Khalifat FC in a Matchday 12 fixture at the Dan Anyiam Stadium on Sunday.
